Ongoing programs of Edwards Congregational United Church of Christ include the following:

Weekly Programs

Blessings in a BackPack is a nationwide program to provide weekend meals for elementary school-aged children.  Between 30 and 50 weekend packs are prepared and delivered to Eisenhower school each Friday during the school year.  Over 12,000 packs have been prepared and delivered since we began this mission.

Mentoring is provided to elementary school children who need extra attention.

Monthly Programs

Food Pantry - nonperishable food items are collected the fourth Sunday of each month (or at any time) and delivered to area food pantries.  There are also giving envelopes available in the pews for monetary donations which are given to three local food pantries.

The mission has been an integral part of the Biloxi community since it was established in the 1920’s.

Thanksgiving Baskets are donated by the congregation, gathered into meal kits, delivered to 50 or so Quad-City families each year.

A Warming Tree is “grown” in the Narthex at Christmas time! Mittens, scarves, and other warm clothing are donated and delivered by the Mission Board to schools, Winnie’s Place and other local service organizations.

Christmas gifts are sent to Green Grass, South Dakota, a community located on the Cheyenne River Sioux Reservation, where high unemployment and subsequent poverty make it difficult for children to celebrate Christmas.
